EyeSight Cameras Peek Around Rearview Mirror

Active safety technologies are popping up across the automotive world. The newest of these technologies are adaptive cruise-control, lane departure warning, collision mitigation braking, and others depending on the manufacturer. These systems typically use a combination of camera and radar devices to warn drivers of impending danger. Subaru’s not the first to get into the game with its new EyeSight system but Subaru has taken the system design in a different direction, stereo. The EyeSight system is unique in design as it employs a pair of charge-coupled devices (CCD) cameras mounted atop the windshield camera placements right or left of the rearview mirror. (more…)
